This was one of the coolest little excursions that we did last year with our son locally. Right around the time he started to really get into playing with trains and watching the television show Thomas & Friends, I came across this event in an email or online I forget. Nonetheless, it couldn’t have been better timing! My husband and I love doing fun little adventures with our son on the weekends so we booked tickets and made a day of it.
The event was called Day out with Thomas which offers a unique opportunity to take a ride with the classic storybook engine, and meet Thomas and friends in person! This is literally a dream come true for kids that are really into trains and this show in particular. To come face to face with Thomas, even my 1 year old understood how cool this was and was the happiest little boy when that train pulled up.
This year they’ve made some awesome additions, they are offering two rides at the Perris location. A 25 minute ride with Thomas and a 15 minute ride with Percy. Last year it was just Thomas so I think that’s a pretty fun that the kids this year will get to ride both trains. After the ride, you are able to take a picture at the front of the train where Thomas’ face is. All the kids were really amazed by it, it was pretty impressive. You also get to meet Sir Topham Hatt.
Your child can also explore the train museum itself as well as enjoy the petting zoo, bouncing castles and a variety of other activities. There were activities both outside and inside which was great since it was really hot the day that we went. There are also tons of food trucks to purchase meals and professional photography stations to get picture souvenirs.
Overall it was a great event for those little ones that are Thomas obsessed. I highly recommend checking out.
This year (2015), if you’re located near Los Angeles, you can catch Thomas and Percy in Perris, CA starting this weekend (Nov. 7,8,11,14,15).

And for those of you who are reading this and are bummed that they’ve already been to your hometown. The event is annual so they’ll be back your way some time next year just keep the website bookmarked and check back in a few months.
